Upgrading from X to S brakes

With a little more power from hfc's/cbe/intake and a little more weight from the vossen's, i'm feeling the need for more stopping power...
I dont want to drop 4k on wilwood brake kits (not to mention....they don't fit on the X : )

So, I was thinking of just upgrading to the S version brakes. We know they work since the '11 X coupe has them as an option. So I am assuming it should be no problem to get them on my '10 x coupe.

First, is it wortwhile? Are the S brakes really much better or is this a pointless upgrade?
If it is worth it, has anyone done this? Is it as simple as just getting the parts and putting them on? What part numbers do I need to make this happen?

I wen to OEM infiti partrs and it looks like the front sport calipers for the X can be had for $240-ish each and back $170-each. So not too bad if there's a difference in performance and not considering I am not aware of anythign aftermarket that woudl work for the X anyway....

Thanks!

I am in the same position. after doing a lot of research, I've come to the conclusion that the sport brakes are my best option. I've ordered a set of f + r from concept z performance. powdercoat the calipers navy and throw those bad boys on, plus stainless steel brake lines and I'm going to have more stopping power. I've noticed a little brake fade since I got my heavier 20's.

Just waiting to get my order now. fingers crossed.

You're probably better off ordering the kit from Coz (CZP), as it'll be cheaper than buying each part separately. Just make sure to get the stainless lines.

Just give them a call and they will help you. I just threw mine on last week and had a few questions even though I didnt order mine from them they were very helpful!

I went with brake performance rotors because of their lifetime warranty.

Here is my setup.

If you have the 18" wheels, you will need minimum 5mm spacers on the front.

I got the akebono front + rear kit with stoptech rotors slotted/drilled... I believe the price is $1495 (powdercoating costs 350 more)

yep, I'm very excited to get 'em on the car!

Question... what comes standard with the 2011 sport? I have 4 piston calipers up front and 2 piston in the back, I know that much. Mine look just like those red ones, except they're gunmetal and have "Infiniti" written on them.

I was under the impression they were Akebono.

Yes, those are the Akebono sport brakes. When the guys get them powder coated they tend to put the actual Akebono logo on them instead of the Infiniti one.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation, fellas.

As to the OP - now that I've cleared that up, I say hell yes go with these brakes. They are very good, IMO.

I've driven it pretty hard and never had brake fade. Not on a track, mind you, but on a very lonesome, winding road.

i also have the '10 coupe x.. would it make sense to just upgrade the brakes and not the rotors? meaning, keep the stock rotors and just get the sport akebono calipers and whatever else is needed? or is that just a waste?
