Service Engine Light? Damage From being lowered

Just bought the 08 G37S last week. Drove it for a day then the service engine light came on. I guess the car had been lowered and the last owner hit something that damaged the harness clips and the front bumper cover. They want $500 for the clips and an O2 sensor. I told them to hold off, I will find the harness clips myself and start there. The original owner put the car back to stock ride height. anyone else have the harness issue?

Thanks, Jon

hm, my car is lowered (i have about 1 inch - .5 inchs of wheel gap) i live in a snowy area and drag bottom once in a while and have never seen this. i think you could get an o2 sensor for cheaper and instal it yourself. as for the clips im not too knowledgable about that. You can probably get an 02 sensor for about 100 bucks. some other members will chime in and help!

Here you go:

Amazon.com: Denso 234-4380 Oxygen Sensor (Air and Fuel Ratio Sensor): Automotive

It is most likely that you damaged the rear oxygen sensors. This is the OEM replacement. However, depending on where the harness ripped, you might have to do some soldering of the wires to fix it.

Thanks for the link.
I looked at the history and there were some wires from the harness that got smashed. I am going to get the car back and check it out. Another dealer supposedly fixed the issue (not under warrenty of course). The stealer also told me that if the clips and o2 sensor did not fix it that I would need a new harness to the tune of 2k
I took my Mustang into a Ford dealer it was throwing Throttle Body codes and they told me that since it was supercharged that the repositioning of the CPU caused it to overheat. I had Ford roadside come pick it up and tow it to a "mod friendly" dealer. They found that it was the tb positioning sensor and replaced it under warrenty.
My problem is that there is one Infinity dealer within 150 miles. Maybe I sjhouldn't have hit them with 3 TSB's on my first visit...

LOL. Just be patient and KIND. Express your frustration. You'll get your way eventually. Question though, since you bought an '08 shouldn't it still be warrantied? Or did you mention that they just weren't willing to warranty it? It's rather difficult to know a previous lowering job, unless parts have been replaced. How'd they determine that in the first place? Push for a goodwill or something. Then again...$200 isn't CRAZY expensive.

It is noted in the dealer history that the harness wires were "smashed"...they noted that it was due to the car being lowered. It sounds like the harness wires are in the back, and it states that they were repaired. Why it would not be warrentied is beyond me really (since it was it states that it was fixed). They want $500, which would be fine, but when the light comes on again they would want 2k to buy a new harness.

that's one of the problem when you buy a used car.... like me. ==

went to the dealer to fix my navigation. They found out that, there's the bypass module that's messing up the signal. (the module that some of you might have, that bypass the navigation, so that you can use it / watch DVD when driving..).

But good thing, they didn't collect money from me.

There is no way just lowering the car did that kind of damage. My car is way low, i scrape on stuff all the time and I've never had a problem like that. Ever.

Factory O2 sensors are tucked up pretty well, not sure how the car bottoming out could damage them.

I got the car back today and it is the plug where the o2 sensor plugs in. I is pretty hammered. Does anyone know or have a wiring diagram for the o2 sensor? I will hard wire it to see if that corrects the problem.

My driver side O2 sensor harness got ripped completely off and left 4 bare wires hanging. After searching and searching I couldn't find where anyone put up what wire connects to what on the sensor. The harness clip is very hard to get. So I went to the O2 sensor on the other side and compared voltage across all combinations of the 4 wires. I then got the same readings on the broke side and determined which wire was supposed to be connected to what on the O2 sensor. I built a diagram in word and attached it here.
