Best brakes for everyday-city driving?

18K miles, Dealer tells me that my front brakes are almost down to the metal and my rear's have about 5% left, Wanting a $700.00 fee to change them i was thinking i rather go else where, question is which brakes are the best on the stock rotors? Note: with my current brakes i've heard plenty of noise when either slowing down or reversing.

Sport coupe btw.

$700 is RIDICULOUS.

You can change them yourself in 30min. I'm still on my stock brakes at about 50k mi.

Wow, $700 is ri-donk-ulous! I'm running Hawk Performance Ceramics for everyday driving and they both perform great and GREATLY reduce the brake dust on my wheels. Plus they are not that expensive.

56k, stock sport brakes with stock rotors. Still have 65-70% left.

$700? HA! Tell them to scratch.
