Brake Squeal when backing up

I have 12K on my 08 G37S and since day one, the brakes squeal when I back up. The dealer suggested a series of aggressive back up and brake maneuvers to alleviate this problem. I don't have much confidence in that recommendation. They stated that if that fails, they would resurface the rotors and sand the brake pads, at my expense of course. Anyone one else experience this issue?

Everyone who owns a G has this problem the techs I've talked to attribute it to glazing on the rotors. And I've also been told to drive in reverse and hit the brakes hard to remove the glazing, it's worked for me on a limited basis.

Basically i just try to minimize soft braking in reverse and that seems to eliminate most of the squeaking

Has anyone gone so far as to change the pads and rotors? I know that's a drastic move and probably not worth the trouble, but just wondering.

never thought a bout braking hard to get rid of the "glaze" or whatever
but if you want your rotors refinished just tell your service rep you think your rotors are warped due to shaky steering and they should refinish them under warranty, they did for me

I've been experiencing this issue for the last few months; I have 18K miles on my Sedan with sport brakes.

They don't actually resurface your rotors when you tell them your brakes are squealing. One of the techs told me they just write that so the dealership can collect more warranty work compensation from corporate. They probably just clean off the brake dust. It's a temporary fix, but it'll come back.

I never heard of the hard braking solution, I'll have to try that next time.

I am seriously considering it. The thing that is mostly stopping me from doing it is I am wondering if the squeeking is a result of glaze or is it vibration, because if it is vibration then the only thing that will fix the squeek at that point would be ceramic pad (and maybe rotors)... maybe.

I reeeaally want some cross-drilled rotors, so this may be my justification for getting them.

I went through this same exact problem. I took it to the dealer multiple times and never got an answer. The third time I spoke to the manager, he comes out to hear the squealing for himself. He realizes it is from the front brakes so he tells the techs to change my front brake pads. They change and lubricate the pads. Haven't heard any sort of squealing ever since.
