2-Pc Rotors for G37 Akebono Brakes

Anyone have any experience with 2-pc Rotors on their G's? I've been looking into the options and I found a company looking to offer lighweight, 2-pc rotor for the factory sport brake package (with Akebono calipers) on our cars. Right now only the front rotors are in the works. But they have plans to offer rear rotors in the future as well. The stock rotors on our cars are tanks, they weigh in at a whopping 30 lbs EACH!, and they are claiming that the 2-pc rotors will save an estimated 11 lb per corner of unsprung weight. That's 22 lbs savings just by switching out the front rotors! Wow!!!

Just replace them. Cutting them works but the thinner the rotors are, the easier they warp. And Nissan rotors already warp easy as it is!

Ok, so who's interested in getting a matching set of rear 2-pc rotors!?!? I talked to Mike and Warren at RacingBrake last week and they are ready to move forward with the rear rotors. They have a sign up list on their forum with GB pricing, so for any of you that are interested please go to the following web-site and sign up. FYI... They are also offering GB pricing on the full set for those of you without the fronts yet. Infiniti G37S Rear two-piece rotor - RacingBrake Forums

just for my own knowledge - what good do light weight rotors do? aside from overall weight reduction. 30 lbs is A LOT!!!

Moreso than being lighter, it's 2-pc, and designed so it allows for better cooling, some expansion and limited heat spread.

Anyone know the weight difference between these and the DBA 5000 (for fronts)?

Keep in mind that the weight savings from these rotors is unsprung weight, as well as rotating mass, so these can conceivably help improve the handling and acceleration of your car... in addition to braking of course.
