^^More than likely. It will take a while to blow them out unless you dump it and drive it really hard, then maybe.

 

Hey guys Everyones talking about how your shocks and struts will wear out etc etc. What are the chances of me having issues with that within 3 years of slappin springs on? (since I am a lease) say normal driving with the occasional run in with a pothole here and there by accident. Sorry don't know much about the wear and tear of that part of the car and don't wanna have any issues

 

It depends on how low you drop it. The lower you go, the more stress you put on the stock struts, thats all. If its just an inch, the additional wear will be minimal. If you drop it 2 inches, well thats a lot and it will eventually blow out.

Doesn't really matter though because even stock springs w/ stock shocks will eventually go bad and need replacing.. so hey, why not now?

When i go for coilovers, they will be KW Variant 3. Heard nothing but good things about them.

 

how much would it be to replace stock struts..how much do they go for..?

 

^You would be probably be better off just buying coilovers if you're thinking about the cost to replace you shocks and struts. You have to think about other things besides upfront costs. Remember that if you go with a good company, they have very good warranties, so you can just have your coils repaired instead or replaced.

 

thanks. but iunno..my knowledge on suspension isn't that great. to my understanding springs have a set amount that it lowers you and coilovers you can adjust the height and stiffness. but it's usually for tracking and like the OP, i don't plan on tracking. just for street use. and coilovers are pretty expensive..just weighing out my options. thanks for the advice and response though

 

Still a coilover is the same as a shock/strut combo and if the price is even close its nice to have the adjustbility of the coils.

NO a coilover is a replacement for the shock/spring.

 

No, what some people do is they buy a set or lowering springs, and then maybe upgrade the shock/struts later on. Some companies make different coils, a set for street and a set for track. Some companies offer coils that adjust he height only for street use.

Granted coilovers are the better performance choice, but to compete in STOCK autocross classes, they can't be used. Does anyone know of a company making performance shocks/struts for G37s?

 

If you get springs you will eventually have to get aftermarket shocks.
So just go get coils

 

you still spend less on springs AND shocks than coils so thats bad reasoning.

i ran a 1" drop on my g35 for over 2 years and 40k+ miles without issue with my stock shocks. that even included taking it airborne a couple times, oops?

 

^^ Did you use aftermarket springs? Out of curiosity, can the stock suspension be adjusted to lower the car some?
I know pretty noobish question.
