Brake Assist saved Bambi last night

I think I would have hit a deer last night if I didn't have BA that comes with the tech package. I was totally caught off guard when it ran out in front of me and I'm pretty sure the brakes were applied harder than I hit the peddle. Not sure if the Preview Braking would have sensed the deer but I stopped pretty darn quickly with only a couple feet to spare.

Anyone have details on how BA works? Seems like the details are pretty hard to find. I'll bet it knows how fast I went from releasing the velocitator to pressing the decelimatrix.

It also makes me wonder if this could be a bad thing in rubberbanding traffic.

FYI--Brake Assist comes standard on all G37 in USA. I am glad it worked and helped you.

I'm glad you didn't hit the deer, your car wasn't damaged, and you weren't injured in any way!

brake assist uses our laser radar to preview an object before you hit it too hard. essentially it calculates that an accident is imminent and will apply more break power than you may have anticipated that you might need.

Preview braking uses the laser to detect a collision and pre-pressurizes the brakes. It's part of the tech package.
Brake assist somehow determines that you're braking in an emergency situation and applies more break power. I believe it's standard like seayky said.
See what I mean about how little info there is out there. lol

Brake Assist/ABS saved "me" (and car) today

Glad for bambi, but brake assist saved my @$$ from a head-on collision today. Traffic lights out at large intersection in ATL (people freak and don't know to act when it happens). So I gunned it after stopping to get through intersect and car turned in front of me just as I got through (i was doing about 45). Pressed hard on brakes (didnt stomp pedal) and it stopped on a dime w/no skid whatsoever. Whatever it was (ABS or BA), it saved my life. Any skid and I would have clipped other car. Had a 350z for 5y and did same thing a few times at same dangerous intersect, damn Z never stopped like that w/o skid (and Z had brembos). Nice to know brakes perf as expected. Hard to give up Z, but it drove like a tank compared to 37.
