Coilovers/Other Mods

I see alot of posts concerning the BC Racing Coilovers, my question is are there other companies who have developed coilovers for the G37 yet? This will be my first car doing any modifications to it so I really am very green when it comes to brand names, specifications, etc. I've spent the last week or so going all over this forum trying to take in as much as possible. As it stands right now I am looking at lowering it, header back exhaust, intake, interior lighting, and some audio modifications. Also, are there any good shops in the Oceanside, CA area that anyone woul recommend?

I am in Iraq right now and wont be back until late august so its not necessarily important that its out right now, although the price on the BC's seems pretty good compared to what people are saying the other brands will be.

BC is more bang for your buck...awesome deal
Cusco I heard is coming out in the next month or two, but that is going to retail around 2000
If you have the money to drop and have time to wait, then wait until the KW, tein or cusco come's out, however if you are on a budget and cannot wait to do your next mod, get BC.

Would the BC Coilovers be a difficult install for someone who has never worked on suspension before? I can get access to all the tools/etc I would need to complete the job, i'm curious about the difficulty of the install.

Since this is your first time dealing with aftermarket parts, take it to a shop to do it.

Gotcha, i've dealt with basic to intermediate maintenance and upkeep on cars. I do my own brakes, fluids etc, have helped once in an engine rebuild, but that is the extent of my experience. I have some friends who work have done a lot of aftermarket installs on their cars (05 WRX and 03 M3) who said they could probably walk me through some stuff but not sure they have the time to actually help out with the installs.

If I'm not planning on going to the track, although I like to drive aggressively, should I be looking more at just springs instead of coilovers?

If you don't care about handling get springs, if not, get coil overs.
I have H&R springs right now, and there is a huge difference is handling, and it looks real aggressive.

I'm definitely going more for the look although i wouldn't want to NEGATIVELY affect the handling. So as long as the handling would be as good or even slightly better I would probably be satisfied with springs vice coilovers. Is the install on springs comparable to coilovers?

Like I said before, I wouldn't mess with the suspension if you have no clue what to do haha. If you want the look, and want improved handling, get springs, but make sure you get a SPC camber kit if you do decide to get H&R's...those things are burning my damn tires so fast!!!

However, keep in mind, if you do decide to get coil overs, you can adjust them to your liking, in case you get rims.

I doubt I'll get rims. I actually like the stock sport 19's and can't justify spending the 3-4 grand for new rims and tires. It's looking like I will probably do springs instead of coilovers now though. I have read people who didn't need to adjust the camber at all with a drop, just an alignment. Is that just certain springs that wouldn't need a camber adjustment?

If you get the H&R springs, then yes. As for the rest, you have to search. If you want the aggressive look, go for the H&R.

Ok, I've still got time to do research because I won't be picking up the car for another 3 1/2 months or so when I get back to the states. Just makes it easier if you have a place to start ya know?
