Noisy Foglights

Hi, 2014 q60s, about 55,000miles.

Something is going on with my fog lights, left or right they are making a loud buzzing sound. Not sure if these are stock or the prior owner installed them.
I've uploaded a video to help demonstrate the issue. Normal sound is around the 9 second mark but it doesn't last long.

The connector looks fine, it's secure and the fact that i can reproduce the sound on either side has me stumped.
Any idea what might be happening? Do you recall which bulb type fits if i do need a replacement?

Can you tell if that is a small fan at the back of the socket?

If so, the bulbs are aftermarket and likely the fan is either dirty or shot.

yes, they have fans, it sounds like a replacement is needed. Strange that both are doing it, i guess they've reached end of life

Could be dirty, IDK. Perhaps you can remove them and try cleaning them or giving them a small shot of WD40, or equiv.

If it were me, I would just get a set of quality replacement bulbs, LED or otherwise, and call it a day.

This. Quality replacement is the key takeaway. Forget ebay or amazon. Personally, I run the Morimoto LED units from theretrofitsource.com. No issues whatsoever. Good luck!

I've got Amazon LED's in my car and they are phenomenal. They've been installed over 4 years and still going strong.

Yea some led fog lights are so bright that they need a fan to keep them cool. I can hear the fans of mine from the drivers seat with the windows rolled up

Brightness has nothing to do with fans or not. My fanless LED's I've been running for years are brighter than the fanned ones I had previously. Fans versus fanless just has to do with overall design to keep the lights cool .
