Options for Paddle Shifter Shroud under Steering Wheel

Bought and installed the paddle shifters on my 2011 Journey Coupe.

I'm struggling to find the 3, under-the-steering-wheel shroud to mount it so that it looks normal again.

Has anyone just cut out their existing shroud to fit the new paddle shifters? Or did you buy the proper paddle-shifter shrouds?

I cant seem to find just the 3 shrouds for under the steering wheel. They usually come with the paddle shifters, which I don't need.

Any suggestions would be great. Thx!

I would imagine that if it were that easy, everyone would be doing so instead of getting a lot of grief trying to source the right part. While I think you might be able to dremel the two slots needed for the paddles to clear the shroud, I think the issue is with the tilt/ telescope switch. I am not sure if there is enough room between the t/t switch and the paddle switch housing. It has been too long since I got rid of my G paddles for the Q ones so I just do not remember. As the old saying goes, never hurts to try.

Now, that said, ordering these shrouds new is the most aggravating as you have to order the part based on your cars specs (with/ without this, that, and the other, etc.). Many folks here have gone down that rabbit hole trying to get the right one- even the dealerships get it mixed up.

From what I gather, the (US) p/n is 48470-JK70A and will run ≈$175 and up. Ridiculous. If you are brave, you can try ordering them from Japan for ≈$40 International shipping should not be that costly. I would shoot amayama.com a email and see if they can narrow down exactly what you need.

These pieces rarely come up on eBay and when they do they sell almost immediately. You can try setting eBay notifications for "G37 48470" but I would not hold my breath. Of course, there are always pull-a-parts and the like.

Not much help, I know. Like I said, I got rid of the G37 paddles when I went to the Q60 paddles so I just do not remember if you can fully get the non-paddle shroud to fit.

As always, thx @ILM-NC G37S - I am leaning towards:
  1. Dremeling out the cut-outs and putting felt over the cut edges
  2. Going to a local Wake County (NC) junk yard to look for a G37S to pull out the 3 necessary pieces
  3. Buying it from ConceptZPerformance ($145).
Will be trying to do option #1 when I return from CT. Hoping this is sufficient and I can call it a day!

In all actuality, I am sure you can fit in. After all, most of it will be covered by the steering wheel itself so any trimming will not be immediately visible (unless you are slightly OCD like me, lol).

If I ever get to the pull-a-part here I will check for you.

Sounds good. I'm a little OCD when it 'matters' and I realize I'll never see anything under my steering wheel, so I really don't care as long as it goes back together. Will know in a few weeks if I was successful or if I need to go to the pull-a-part yard. Never been there, so that could be fun to check out.

@ILM-NC G37S so I tried option #1 (dremeling it out). No dice. The automatic steering wheel adjustments impede with the left paddle shifter. So I had to scrap my steering shroud.

Went to the local junkyard (Jackson Auto Salvage) and luck will have it, they had a wrecked G37S 4 door (I have the coupe). The yard-picker took about 15 minutes to take off the 3 pieces I needed and it cost me $35 (plus another $10 for the picker). Should've got the alum pedals. May go back and pick those up and POSSIBLY the sport brakes. But not sure what else needs to change in order to put on the larger S brakes.

Just need to wait for a cooler night to install it but I'm lucky to have found a salvaged G37S and got the parts. Amazing what they do with these cars. All VQ engines were gone from the cars (EX35, FX37, G37,). Highly sought after (including the Honda's and toyotas!)

When I went to the local pull-a-part yard last week to get a few things for my beater pickup, they had a few G37 sedans that were picked clean. It amazes me how tough these cars actually are. They had a 2009 that was smashed front and rear- made you wonder how anybody walked out of it.

Anyway, congrats on the find! When I swapped out the paddles for the newer ones, the old shroud sold fast.

.
I had the same thought. Cars beat to hell, no front end or back end, yet the car doors open up with ease. Makes me want to keep this car even longer. My ‘11 coupe will be my ‘beater’ if/when I find a convertible to buy one day (just sold my 93 300zx). Fun to have options.
