HID to LED headlight conversion

I'm looking at replacing the Hi/Low beam HID bulbs on my coupe. I've looked at some of the HID options like the OSRAM CBB/CBI and Philips X-tremeVision gen2, but what gets me is the lifespan. They claim a lifespan of 2500hrs for the CBB and 3500 for the Philips. Now, I'm not sure how many years that lasts, but LED bulbs last much, much longer. Somewhere from 10-30,000 hours, and they cost the same or not much more than high end HIDs. AFAIK, the beam pattern is pretty configurable since the LEDs rotate 360 degrees and the headlights can be leveled. Even if they don't outperform HIDs, the fact that I'll probably never have to replace them makes them seem like a no brainer, yet everyone seems to say that HIDs are the better choice. If I'm missing something, do let me know, as I'm just trying to make the best decision.
