I tried to angle so that the photo emphasized the center dip. It's much more subtle from normal viewing angles. I see spoilers similar on BMW 4-series and occasionally on modded Dodges, but with the difference between center and outer edges much more pronounced.

From doing basic wind flow testing (yarn tufts and a buddy to follow me) it looks like air spills off the back window and down the sides of the car, so those little bumps should be as effective as a whole width spoiler without obscuring much view like a whale tale.

I don't DISlike the spoiler.. I'm just not sure the sharp-looking angles flow very well with the more gentle curves of the G. I think it looks better than those bigger duckbills still.

I think I would have paid actual money to see the look on your wife's face for that event.

She works for a major aerospace manufacturer in engineering - she knew all about tuft testing.

I'll try to get some daytime pics rather than overexposed night shots. It's about as sharp a transition as the sport chin spoiler.

Hey do you have any tips on how to add a layer of clearcoat? I think I'm gonna go with this spoiler but I don't have any experience painting. Would there be any prep work involved since the spoiler will be brand new? Or simply spray a coat on and I'm good to go?

+1 on that; bodywork is my nemesis but this is just cleared carbon - gelcoat maybe?

Oh, that's pretty easy. Just sand it down with something like 600grit until its an even, matte surface. (Do NOT go too far or you will go into the carbon). Hit it with some nice UV protecting clear coat. I used leftover clearcoat from doing my wheels. Think it was duplicolor.

Most gel-coat has no UV protection, it'll break down in the sun. It needs to be cleared. That's the reason mine started cracking in the first place.

ALSO, I went over it with some 3M clear bra wrap. I highly suggest that as well. Just cut a template and put some on the top. (anywhere sun facing)

I have narrowed it down to two spoiler options.. they look basically the same to me, but I don't know about quality if anyone wants to chime in. Price is definitely better on the ebay spoiler and it looks like that seller is pretty reputable..

https://ahacarbon.net/products/infin...32081388666962

https://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-STYLE-R...3A2334524#rwid

Which one should I get?

EDIT: After looking at that "ahacarbons" option, the way the title of the item is.. it looks like an ebay seller.

Just looking at the two pics, the proportions look identical. If that's the case, your question really is CF or painted?

OEM is flat, whereas these have a little uplift to them. Kind of OEM with attitude.

Nope that's not my question.. they both look like pretty much the same to me.

My question is: which one seems like the "safer" quality choice? According to my EDIT though, they both appear to be ebay sellers, the way the item is listed as it's title... so I'm thinking to maybe just get the cheaper one on ebay?

Honestly it's probably the same part, made in the same factory. Just get the cheaper one.
Edit, No nevermind. the cheaper one is PLASTIC with a carbon fiber print on it. The other one is actually carbon. That's the one I have.

Well, it certainly is a wide price difference, $160 vs $95. Both are CF wrapped and clear-coated, right?

IDK... since they seem so similar, and it's just trim, go for the cheaper one, and if it doesn't work out, it's less of a loss.

However, if the more expensive one is truly CF, you can refer to it as such. Otherwise you will forever be looking at the cheap spoiler as something that only looks CF. IDK how much that matters to you... some people have very hard opinions about CF. It's a thing. I don't get it, but it's a thing.

No, one is literally plastic with a picture of CF on it. Check the description

Color:Carbon Fiber Style
Material:Plastic
Surface Finish:Carbon Fiber Style

The $160 one is real CF

Thanks a lot for the opinions. I went with the cheaper one. It doesn't matter to me if it's real cf or plastic, as long as it looks pretty much the same. I might even get it painted body color if I don't end up liking the way the CF looks. I don't want to go overboard "sporty" on my car, but I just hate that chrome trunk piece and I feel like the car really benefits aesthetically with having a trunk lip/spoiler. It's something about how the bottom of the rear bumper seems to stick out too far compared to the stock trunk lid.
