2009 G37 Sedan Fog Light issue
2009 G37 Sedan Fog Light issue
Interesting issue came up when I ordered some fog lights recently. Back in 2016 I ordered some Diode Dynamics got lights for my 09 G sedan. The part number is 9006 according to the Sylvania bulb guide in 2016. I liked those lights but decided to order some flip chip lights that can change between white and yellow colors from SoCal Accessories in CA. Having forgotten the bulb part number, I went back to Sylvania's bulb guide and looked up the part number for the fog light bulb. It was displayed as H8. Thinking nothing of it, I went ahead and ordered the bulbs from SoCal Accessories. Once the bulbs got here I was excited to install them. I got the car in the garage and took out the old diode dynamics led bulbs only to see that they are 9006 and not H8, The H8 bulbs obviously won't work so I was pissed. I double checked Sylvania's bulb guide as well as Phillips and Diode Dynamics and they all display the '09 G37 sedan as having an H8 bulb. This obviously isn't true as I was holding a 9006 bulb. Since the 2009 G37 has the '07 and '08 G35 style headlights, I looked up the bulbs for those and found them to be 9006. I also looked up the part numbers for a 2010 G37, the year the fog lights were moved to the bumper, and found the part number was H8.
I came to a conclusion that all of the bulb guides were correct in 2016 displaying that the 2009 G37 has 9006 bulbs, but sometime between then and now it was changed displaying that it is an H8 bulb. All I know is that I, along with other '09 G37 sedan owners are going to be pissed if they order the wrong bulb!
