Ballast or bulb

First time post to this great forum... Here's my dilemma:

2009 G37X just had front bumper replaced due to a small dent. Not sure if they had to take lights off or not. Got car back and a week or so later someone tells me my headlight is out. I did run thru a car wash that day also. Anyway, symptoms are with car off fog only works, when I turn engine on, fog works, turn signal works, and main bulb will flicker a few times and turn off. I pulled bulb and it looks fine. Called parts store and ballast and bulb are both not returnable. Before I go spend $100+ I'd like to be reasonably sure I am going to fix the problem. Any suggestions?

Assuming the other headlight works, switch bulbs and see if the problem persists.

That's what I was thinking but was looking for another option so I wouldn't have to take both front tires off. Probably just take to a shop. Thanks!

Definitely best to swap. They can both be done without removing the wheels though. For drivers side turn the wheels all the way right, and all the way left to do the passenger side. Then you can go in through the fender liner and get them out. You'll likely pay $100 at a shop to have them swap them for you anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions...after three weeks it dawned on me...take the bulb out and go to parts store and compare old buld with new bulb. It was in fact a blown bulb.
