Rip in the Drivers Seat

Developed a slow rip in my drivers seat. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this as well? It appeared to be a THINNING of the leather that eventually tore. What's strange is that its not really a "wear-spot" on the seat (like the side bolster or bottom of the seat where your butt sits).

FWIW, I paid $250 to get the 3 perforated panels replaced at a local place in Cary, NC. Guy does great work, looks like new.

The two panels under my butt were cracking in several places. ProStitch in Spartanburg, SC replaced both for $85 with same day service.
