The Auto Kits hood looks nice from the outside, even though the vents on the sides are a little small. The pics on their website are not the greatest. Are the vents on the sides operational with a removable cover? Does the large center of the hood with the "U" shaped design open up to air or is it just a design element?

All the vents are functional. I ran this hood with my SC wanted the heat to escape. The pic on the right is my old car.
Here are some more pics, a few are with it painted same as the car. Damn dealer didnt latch the hood and blew off on my way home. Had to fight with them to paint and fix it. They did, but is was hack job as two weeks later if all crack off from the heat.

Looks nice! So are the vents open all the time or do they come with a cover so you do not get water on the electronics in your engine bay.
It looks like the center "U" shaped ridge is just a design element- or does it vent to the inside?

^^ everything vents
,
The water isn't bad at all when you wash it or it rains. The vents are not directly over anything that the water would damage. I had zero issues with it

Reverse Naca ducts. Hmm... that's not a bad idea. It probably would not vent as much air as these fully vented hoods I have been looking at, but it would still help. It would also probably look a lot cleaner. My body shop guys strongly advised against cutting vents into my stock hood as it will become wavy and weak, but maybe...

I think I am finally going to invest in a vented hood for my car to try to keep the temps down on track days. I really like the Autokits X carbon hood painted like the coupe below. Just a touch of carbon or I could paint the entire hood or maybe everything, but the vents. I e-mailed Autokits to make sure it fits the sedan. However, I see they were banned from our forum so who knows if they are still around.

Another hood I came across that I like is the Carbon Creations TS-1 at CariD. I would probably test fit it to see how it looks in full carbon trim and maybe wrap the roof in carbon if it looks ok, but probably paint the entire hood except for the vents and bars between them. Thoughts?
