Ash tray and storage unit

Ok is it possible to switch out someone’s ashtray console for my storage unit console? Basically where everyone says they have a ash tray and lighter I have basically the same thing just that instead of the lighter it’s a car charging port and instead of a ash tray it’s just space

If I understand you correctly, I don't think you can. I remember the ashtray and lighter are part of the center piece that lifts out. The entire piece goes from the ash tray part all the way down to the heated seat controls.

I checked the DIY shift **** thread and pics seem to support my memory.

??? you have a 12V power outlet ... that a cig lighter plugs into? just buy a cig lighter if that's what you're looking for.

i've been using them for years.

i also hard-wired a USB port from the fusebox in my G to the left front side of the center console so if i need to charge my phone, wires aren't draped across the shifter.

go for it man, I've had one for a while and its very nice as it looks integrated and you can close the lid when not in use (which is never)... I use one that supports quick charging though...only a few bucks more...this one I think
