Paint discolored




Help please!
I debadged G37S it was good.
Then i detailed detailed my trunk (claybar, compound, polish, wax) & at the end i see a small discolored area.
Note: it’s not my first time detailing my car.

Looks like clear coat damage. Try wet sanding the area

Looks like you burned through the clear. Was your trunk deck ever refinished?

I never had it refinished.
It’s only a very small spot that can be seen in certain angles. For now i just put wax on it for some protection.
Im not looking to get the entire trunk repainted.

Cant i just spray with clear coat then wet sand and buff it?

I wouldn't recommend throwing a blend,clear wont melt in correctly.

What did you use to remove the adhesive when you debadged the car?

i know what i use, i was more interested in what the OP used as the paint issue seems to be where the G37 badge was. If he says something like "steel wool and baking soda" then we have a culprit.

i used goo gone water and soap.
i debadged my infiniti letters the same way which i did a couple days ago before i did the g37s.

Put some polish on a white cloth and rub the area. If paint transfers off onto the cloth, you've compromised the clear. Best thing to do outside of a repaint is to preserve the area as best as possible.
