So here is an odd one.
I have a 2011 G37xS that I though was the Desert Shadow color,but in looking for some touch up paint,I noticed that in fact,it is a 2012 KAD Gun Metal.All registration and VIN breakdown says 2011,production 06/11 would make it a 2011,so I am wondering,has anyone else ran into this,and is it just due to the later model run that it was painted with the newer model color?Still new to this whole Nissan/Infiniti thing.

 

I'm not following, you're saying that the color of the car is a different color registered to the VIN and registration?

 

No,what I am saying is,That for that particular model year,The paint code is different.I have a company that has paint codes for pretty much anything made,but when i searched it up for my year,KAD Gun Metal was not available until the next model year.I just think it is a little odd.The registration just says Grey.

 

That doesn't sound right, I have a 2010 and it is KAD Graphite Shadow? Easiest way to tell is open your driver side door and it is on the sticker at the very bottom.

 

Hey vaio23 that is where I found it at...But it may be narrowing down to update on my paint code company...But I do agree KAD should be Graphite Shadow.I am going to contact them and see when the last update was done.

I think the name of the color is irrelevant vs the code. PaintScratch custom mixes it anyway, for 2011 KAD is listed as "gray metallic". My Malbec Black 2011 is listed as "Black Pearl". But as long as the 3 letter code matches, you should be good to go.

Nissan might re-use codes, too, so the year and the code would be the correct combination.
