Leave fog lights on with high beams
Leave fog lights on with high beams
Hi, I got my headlights done from a shop (dual halo as DRL) and the person is kind of a moron and didn't wire my highbeams on separately. I believe due to law, when the high beams are on, fog lights turn off. I wanted to know if there was a way to leave the fog lights on when the high beams are on, as my entire headlight module is hooked up to my fog lights (turn on with fogs) and currently when the high beam switch is activated, fog lights are deactivated, hence power to the entire headlight module is cut.
So in simple terms, is there a way to program or wire everything in a way where if the fog lights are on, and high beams are activated, fog lights do not turn off? Or wire it in a way that the high beam is completely independent of everything else?

So basically when your hit your brights the whole light (including high beam) goes out?
You could probably change the wiring so that it feeds off the actual headlight power, and not the fog light. That way it wouldn't cut out.

The issue is that I'm in Canada with always on DRL where everything except the fogs and highs are always on. So the guy wired it such that the halos are DRLs and everything else turns on with fogs, which are set so they turn on when the night setting is active.
I'm not sure it's the same for Canada but the headlamp in the US now only contains one HID bulb. Turning on high-beams actually physically moves a small baffle inside the headlamp which changes the lamps pattern. (You can hear it go thunk if you're close enough.)
If your Canadian headlamp is the same, but now you've installed a dual lamp system, the question is whether that "solenoid" circuit would have enough current to run your brights? Maybe your guy wired it that way and you've already popped the fuse?

Buried in those manuals. though not easy to find, is all the info you should need to answer your questions.
