was curious where or how people get the front grills blacked out. I want mine gloss black.

 

with black spray paint

 

mine came with factory midnight grille, but i Plastidipped the upper and lower chrome strips, and the front face of the Infiniti logo.

I replaced the OEM chrome grille with the factory midnight black grille when I first got my car. A few months ago, I took the original chrome grille to a body shop and had them paint it gloss black. $150 and two days

 

woah, that looks awesome. I love the contrast the silver inside provides. I might do this.

I think the big three options are, Vinyl Wrap, plastidip and spray paint...you can't powder coat it, its plastic.

 

Sanded and painted gloss black.

 

Plasti dipped mine, clean and rugged.

 

I tried to mimic the OEM Midnight grille on mine with plastidip, as all black on a grey car is a little weird.



The texture is not ideal, but it's removable and only cost me like $5 and 20 minutes. The emblem pops off easily so all you have to do is mask the top and bottom.

If I were to redo it, I'd properly prep and paint it so that it's gloss, but I don't really care enough to.

 

I removed mine and plasti-dipped it. I like the textured satin finish.





Another option is to get some OEM paint (like Malbec Black) from AutomotiveTouchup.com

They sell OEM paint and pro-level clear coats in spray cans. Top quality products I did my headlight housings with it and they came out great.

 

This exactly. Dipped mine too and while I'd like a glossy painted front, I'm too lazy now after the fact.

With that being said, I removed the grill and cracked my rad cover in the process like many others. I felt it was safer to remove than to risk overspraying into the radiator or anything. Whether it makes a significant difference or not, meh.

 

i enlarged the rad cover holes a little with a small round file, and now the rad cover comes off easily.

the first time i took it off made me very nervous.
