My 2011 G37 sedan driver's side seat has about an 1/8" of play under hard braking. Took to dealership, $2600 to fix. I have Elite Warranty extended coverage and dealer said it's not covered.
Any thoughts on this? Waiting to see if it could be fixed under safety instead, but curious if anyone has had same issue and what happened.
They said failure of the seat rails. Not sure if they said it that way to get me to pay out of pocket. I'll post the wording from the tech when I get the car on Monday...
I've taken mine in twice for this and they say they can't feel anything. Won't take my word for it. I'm just hoping it doesn't break one day and cause a wreck. At least I have it documented.
I had a similar issue and found that if I loosened up all the seat attaching bolts completely and then retorqued them all to spec, the problem was resolved. Just retorquing them directly without loosening first didn't fix the problem. Worth a try to see if you get improvement. The issue drove me insane until I figured out the fix.
So you're paying for an extended warranty, and they won't cover this issue? I'd contact another dealer, and if that doesn't work out, contact corporate.
Went to get car yesterday and wouldn't you know the seat would not move forward at all. Apparently something went wrong when putting it back together. The left side of the seat went back about 2 inches and right stayed, binding the right rail, and rendering the seat unmoveable.
Just got off the phone and what they said was the part number the tech originally gave him, which was for the seat cushion and rail is not covered. He is awaiting response from the tech to see if it is just the part number for the seat rail. If so, it is covered.
So I'm waiting...either way my seat better operate normally as it did when I dropped it off!
Still not covered under the Elite extended warranty as the part # was for the rails and the cushion.
However, they are going to replace for free as I dropped the car off in a different condition. Basically, they binded the rails with whatever they did and it cannot be fixed to operational without replacing. So...win is a win!
BTW, this is Peninsula Infiniti in Redwood City, CA. All in all, they are doing the right thing so I'm happy.

That is good to know. Do you mind uploading your invoice when you get your car back?
No charge, likely just a notation for them to show they washed the car and added a small amount of fuel for the road test. And do I ever mean small amount. Picked up the car and the gas light was on... Wasnt on when I dropped it off.

I don't have a service manual, can you provide the torque spec? You're talking about the bolts that attach to the floor boards?
