Interior Light Not working
Interior Light Not working
Hello,
I was hoping someone can assist me or point me in the right direction.
I have done some research and could only do so much.
Basically all my interior lights are not working, the ones that the door controls, so the top light(dome light), and each individual door lights.
Info:
2010 Infiniti G37X Sedan
I installed illuminated step lights 5 years ago, via using the tutorial from this forum.
Steps I did and checks.
Few months ago, I noticed that my lights wouldn't turn on when I opened the door.
I figured that it was just the fuse, because there is no way that all the bulbs were gone.
So I proceeded to go to the fuse box located under my steering wheel to the left side.
Opened it and I visually inspected the fuse, it looked fine, but still I changed it anyways.
All my settings reset, and lights still not working
I looked on forums and decided to reset my body control module, by taking off the positive terminal end on my battery off for 10 minutes, they said 5 minutes but I double it just in case.
still nothing!
so I took a test light to the fuse box, and no power was going into the fuse, that could mean there is a short somewhere.
I didn't dig any deeper because I don't really want to go through the wiring. not my specialty
Someone told me I could have a "BAD" Body control module....
I accepted the fact, and decided not to change it because it will cost me $$$$$$$$.
*I noticed that my door sills the illuminated side step lights were working when I opened the door*
If I have bad BCM then why is those lights working.
I believe five years ago, I just tapped into a wire, but I don't really understand what I tapped into, I just did what the tutorial told me to do and told me to tap into which one.
is there anything anyone can suggest me doing before I tear everything apart?
Any advice would help!
Thanks

My interior light which I didn't touch anything is not working,
My door sill lights work btw
But this is the diagram I followed to install my door sills, I am assuming this is what might affect it.
I did not ground the wire, I believe it was just positive and negative and I am using the BCM ground wire. I used self tapping wire clips to tap into them, which is probably not the best way to tap into it.
*does anyone know how to check if you have a bad BCM*
This might seem like a dumb question, but sometimes the simplest solutions are overlooked. Did you recheck the wires and make sure they are still intact? The self tapping wire clips may have backed out
