Unhappy Steering wheel momentarily lockup

2013 G37x here, and every time I reverse my car, more likely on a non flat surface / grade, and then put it back on drive, the steering wheel locks up for a second or so before it lets me turn the wheels again (imagine doing a 3 point turn or exiting the driveway). Is this normal?

I have never experienced this in any other car before. Not sure if this is a purposefully intended mechanism on G sedans, but any advice and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Not supposed to do that for sure.....
Might want to take it to the dealer and have them check it.

Nope, not normal. Is the power steering fluid level ok?
What happens if you drive in a tight figure eight going forward?

Drives just fine. I drive on and off through my parking ramps everyday of the week. The problem only occurs if I have to reverse, and then put the car back on D and try to turn the wheel too quick.

As for the power steering fluid, I have not checked yet. I will be sure to, today.

I've been thinking if it is normal and maybe, just maybe I am trying to turn the wheel too quick.
