Tinting My G Windows

I am having my windows tinted on Monday.

I have decided to go with Formula 1 Pinnacle ($425). We are a very device heavy family and I don't want any electronic interference. And since the Pinnacle is ceramic that won't be a problem. This gives you 60% heat rejection and 99.5% UV protection.

However, they are suggesting the Air Blue film typically used for front windshields($150) as it is virtually clear, with a slight blue color. This gives you 43% heat rejection and 99.9% UV protection on the whole front windshield…all the time.

Before anyone comments on the price, know this: this is the only shop in MD that is a F1 dealer and they are five minutes from my house. Also, the F1 has a Nationwide Lifetime Transferable Warranty.

My question (finally): is anyone familiar with the Air Blue film? Should I get it?

Thanks,
Sean

I used it on the front windshield of my 07 MB E350 and loved it - of course this was done a few years ago, so I’m sure technologies have gotten better since. I went with 70% so it would look stock. It sure did help eliminating glare and it also helped keep the car cool (I had black interior). Definitely worth the investment.

You can see the comparison with the driverside window (tinted) vs. door open vs. front windshield

And that's with the Air Blue on the front windshield? They didn't mention I could get different percentages. Cool.

Formula 1 - Pinnacle tint is on the G

I went with 50% which combined with the 88% OEM window tint gives me 38%. (50% + 12% = 62% light rejected, hence 38% light allowed in) MD law is 35%. People get it darker than 38% all the time, but I prefer the slightly visible look. It's not a privacy thing for me. Besides, it doesn't matter which Pinnacle % you choose, you still get 60% heat rejection and 99.9 UV protection.

The Air Blue gets installed Friday.

Enough of the details, here's a pic:

Went with 50/20/5 (front/sides/rear) of Formula 1 Pinnacle. $500 cash for all of it. The Air Blue would have been the same price so I just opt'ed for the real deal. The 50% front makes such a huge difference.

That's awesome. Prices here are a bit steeper. $425 sides and back for the F1 Pinnacle. $150 for the Air Blue on the front. F1 on the front would be $200. Cash makes no difference. This is the only dealer in MD and they are making appts. two weeks out.

If I went with 20 on the sides I would get a ticket pulling out of the parking lot.

I'm guessing most of car glass places do that? I'm asking because I will be relocating to Florida and I want to get tint that blocks as much heat as possible.
I think it's pretty popular in FL and price is lower that north east for example.

Depends where you move to in Florida. On the F1 webste there are nine dealers in Florida.

In MD lot's of people tint their windows, but not that many, apparently, want to cough up for F1...I don't know.

Here ya go: FormulaOne Automotive Window Film, Auto Tinting and Paint Protection Film
