Smoked tails

We will be moving to California soon. I have Lumin-x lightly smoked coverings to be installed. Any problems with California regs with these?

California is one of the strictest states for modding cars. I would save the headache and take those smoked lumin-x off.

I'm in California and have my tail lights smoked. I have had them done almost a year and haven't had any problems yet. You'll probably be fine, but you never know. Of course, it's a risk if the tails are very dark, but you said lightly smoked. Let us know what you end up doing.

What does CA check for when doing SMOG check? I tried looking up but couldn't get a thorough answer. Do you guys have state inspections there?

Depending on your county, smog check every other year, some every year, some at change of title (I think). For cars newer than 2005, at the moment it is a visual inspection only (check for Check Engine Light, etc) as they wait for new equipment. But in general, emissions test, gas cap, engine codes. No state required general inspections.

I'd better wait until I get there. Thanks for the comments!
