Review Mounting the Resistors for turn signal LEDs
Mounting the Resistors for turn signal LEDs
There are several discussions on installing resistors with the installation of the LEDs for the turn signals. I wanted to give my feedback on my mod.
I purchased from Diode Dynamics their turn signals; Front Cool White (6000K) and Amber HP24 and Rear XP80 bulbs with their resistor kits. I'm really lov'n the bulbs from DD and the switchback front bulbs are my favorites. I also installed the XML2 Fogs. They are all very bright. I love the look in the front which is all white. I really couldn't stand the hyperblinking. I got the DD resistors installed in the rear (pictured below). This fixed the hyperblinking but I wanted to find a solution to this that wasn't getting as hot. It was like touching fire within 10 minutes of continuous flashing. I don't leave my signal on that long but started to think about if I needed my hazards on for a longer period of time.
I found that the DD resistors were way too hot for my taste. I removed the DD resistors and went my own route. I found a replacement and thought I'd share. These are only warm to the touch. I mounted them in the rear of the trunk on each side.
I purchased from DigiKey 2 of these resistors and mounted them (4 photos below). I'm very happy with them. I've had them installed for a couple of weeks now.
