Overhead Courtesy Light

Anybody ever changed their overhead courtesy light? I really dont care for the white. A buddy of mine has a blueish/purple courtesy light in his Acura that looks pretty sharp and i think that would go good with our interior lighting. Dynamic Diode please feel free to chime in if you make these because im not even sure if it's a LED.

I haven't done it yet, but yes it can be done. Diode Dynamics has lights and probably instructions. One of the people I cruise with has red for the domes in his 37.

EDIT: I just ordered my interior kit, if its here, they will be done this weekend.

There are two options. Anything other than the yellowish light is likely already an LED. Are you looking for the bluish white lights? If so, that's between 8000K and 10000K LEDs. The others are regular blue LEDs which won't be quite so bright so you may need to upgrade from the low end. Diode Dynamics does have blue LEDs for interior lighting, but only has the cool white 6000K LEDs for the bright stuff (as far as I can tell). Changing the lights is easy. Reach in with something non marring by the pivot of the light and push in and down to release. Then pull the bulb and place the other one in. If it doesn't light, reverse the bulb. I believe Diode Dynamics has some How To's on their site as well.

Don't go blueish/purple .... stick with classy white and stay away from Rice.

Do what you want and don't let the naysayers say nay. I ordered blue because I like blue, if that's what you like, get it. Personalization doesn't automatically =rice ... unless you have a Honda.

Well...I try to shy people away from red/blue for license plate lighting due to road-legality issues

It's all personal preference on the interior, but I do like cool white

Agreed. Any blue illumination on the outside is usually illegal since only Police vehicles are supposed to have blue lights. I used to be into the blue interior until I used the cool white as well. Just something about the visual clarity inside the car when you open the door. It just looks...clean for lack of a better word.

That's why I didn't order the blue kit and did the build your own. I did notice I forgot to get cool white for the tag lights. I figure if I get pulled over for them I will ask for a warning and change at the very next chance I get. I know that they are illegal on the front here, but I've seen all assortment of colors on tag lights on the road.

if you're referring to the small white LED near the map lights, I don't think they can be changed easily. Removing the unit involves also removing lots of the interior.
