Well, I got my vinyl and wrapped everything up. It was seriously easy. Hardest part was getting all of the trim off the car. Took about 4 hours total. My first time with vinyl on oddly shaped surfaces. I love the new look. Thanks for all your help guys.

I even did my steering wheel trim because it was seriously messed up. Just took the horn pad off and did it while it was on the car.

Ignore my dirty door panel...

That is an amazing look that I would love to have done to my center console and control area. I have never used vinyl wrap; therefore, is it difficult and/or time-consuming for a DIY project? Looking for advice....thanks!

time consuming maybe but difficult not really

I could probably wrap my entire center console in about an hour or two now if I really concentrated as long as you have a sharp hobby knife and a heat gun you should be good

Damn! I like that blacked out look, even with the shine. Been looking at the CF or even the Brushed Black Steel, this is definitely in the running now, too! How hard was it to cutout for the chrome on the ashtray?

Thanks!! I was hesitant at first but now I really love it.

And it wasn't too hard. I pulled the whole bottom section out, then removed the ashtray part where the door is and wrapped it. I wrapped over the chrome and made sure to really form it tight around the chrome piece, then cut it with a razor blade.

The center console was 100x harder

Damn I was going to pay someone.

But after seeing how everyone's turned out doing it them selves I might give this a go.

I would give it a shot. Watch a bunch of YouTube videos and then give it a shot. Buy a 5'x3' sheet and it'll give you plenty of opportunities to mess up. I'd suggest ordering from AutoVinylSolutions, don't buy cheap ebay stuff.

Nice work Thirty Seven, I knew you could do it
I like the look of the black on black, I think I may go that route w/ the brushed black down the road, since the brushed steel that I went with is too similar to the OEM washi.

Thanks! I really like the brushed color you used, it was my second option. I would've went that route if I didn't want people to know it was vinyl wrapped but I really don't care. Yours looks factory which is awesome, yet it's still an improvement over stock. I think they washi looks a little dated but that's just my opinion. Thanks for all the help.

Horn pad has 2 torx screws holding it in on the side. There's a steering wheel removal DIY somewhere around here that includes it.

Here is mine, mostly 3m 1080 vinyl. Climate and radio controls are 3M brushed black metallic, door handle cover is covered with 3M brushed titanium, and the door trim , shifter base and dash trim I used VVivid8 gloss tech art carbon fiber. For now I like it, it flows very well with the assortment I used

Me too, at least from the pics you posted it looks like it actually works pretty well. Not sure how all the different textures would co-exist but maybe
BTW, how does the VVivid8 wrap compare to the 3m 1080 in adhesion, stretch, consistency, and quality? I like the fact that the carbon is glossed, looks much more realistic than the flat 3m carbon wrap that I've used.

I live in phoenix and its held up to the 115 degree heat for the last 2 years. Adhesion is good; you are definitely going to need a heat gun to make it 10x easier to work with stretching especially around the corners.

The Vinyl seems to have 2 layers, top being a tinted clear and under part being the carbon fiber graphic. I would say 3M is a lot easier to work with, and more forgiving. Other than that I have no complaints whatsoever. I believe this product is close as you’re going to get to the traditional carbon fiber look at this time, one of the reasons I choose it.

Here is a close up picture of it on my car and random pic off the web
As well as a YouTube video of the vinyl being applied to a side mirror
