Windows recently tinted

Hey forum.

For anyone who got their windows tinted.. The place where I got my G tinted for put tape on the button that opens and shuts the last bit of window when the doors open/close.

Problem is that when I close the door I feel the glass will shatter. Have any of you survived with this method?

Thanks
Veli

I think they may have forgotten to take that tape off, the guy who tinted my windows took it off as soon as the windows were tinted completely.

Close them gently and you wont have a problem, you can also leave the sunroof open/tilted.
If you remove the bolt that attaches the sensor to the chassis they will stay up, I left mine like that for 3 days, since Ive had to replace my tints 2 times already, no problems so far this time.

I had never thought about this issue with the coupe with regards to window tinting, and the small amount then move up and down when the doors open/close.

I would wait it out a couple days...

I didn't and now it needs to be redone, plus it makes a terrible sound bad enough people ask what it is when they open the door

The sound is honestly cringe worthy, but hopefully 48 hours will be sufficient to avoid any bubbles. *2nd time getting it done *

Thanks for all the input

To the OP:

How dark were your windows tinted and what color is your Infiniti?

I have a Moonshine White coupe and will be getting the windows tinted next week. Here in Oregon the legal max tint is 35% VLT. I'm wondering if that might be too dark and I'm thinking of a 40 to 50% tint.

Any thoughts?

Thirty-five percent is far from dark. I put 35% on the entire windshield and 20% on the rest of the windows on my last three vehicles. This car will be getting 20% all around. I have an '11 white coupe.

With 35% on the windshield I hope you’re not driving at night anymore.

I've never once had a problem driving at night, nor in the rain since 2002. I can see just fine.

I will add your comment to the list of the greatest fairy tale rationalizations ever spoken:

• I will respect you in the morning
• The check is in the mail
• There is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow
• The great pumpkin appears in a pumpkin patch every Halloween
• Cops never pull a driver over for illegal tint
• I’ll never have a night accident due to my banned windshield
• I've never once had a problem driving at night, nor in the rain since 2002. I can see just fine.

I guess, since you put what I said in a list of other "rationalizations," you have proved me wrong. I'll now magically have trouble seeing out of a lightly tinted window from this day forward.

My hope is that you would remove the 35% from the front windshield that is banned in all fifty states. Not to belabor the point made many times before, it is fundamentally dangerous for you and any innocent victim you could encounter at night. Furthermore, should you have an unfortunate accident I’m sure your insurance company, looking at what’s left of that windshield, would deny your claim.

But in an even more dramatic sense, should there be injury or death to others, your illegal windshield could result in prison time. This, IMO, is something you should consider. Actually, I’m hoping you end up being one of the few who are pulled over for illegal tint and are forced to remove it. It would be a blessing for you in the long run.
