Dead LED bulb (stock tail light ring)

Hi,
Did anyone ever replace the stock LED bulb in rear tail light? One of the LED on the ring is not turning on. It's not the whole ring that is out. I thought LEDs are supposed to last longer.... Urg! The tail light had not been modded.

I can't seem to find the bulb size online. Based on some of the DIY pics, it looks like the whole tail light needs to be removed from the car. However, I can't tell if the LED bulbs are accessible. Thanks.

Matt

Less headache and trouble to just buy the assemble on ebay. Taking the tail off the car is the easy part. It's only held in by 3 10mm nuts. However separating the lens from the unit is not an easy process furthermore you need to remove the dead LED, replace with the correct LED and solder back. The process might be a great learning experience/project but not worth DIY IMO.

The whole tail light lens needs to be separated? Wow, that is a lot of work.

Is the car still under warranty? If so, the dealer should just replace the whole light.

I agree. I'd buy a used one off eBay...then fix my existing one as a learning experience...then I'd either sell it on eBay, or keep it as a spare...since the one you got off eBay could also fail at some point down the road.

At least with a spare, you can take your time to repair it. You don't have to finish it before you drive the car. Stretch it out to a few days if you want.

Each OEM tail light goes for about $150-$200 on ebay, and there are fine prints.. Some are scratched, cracked, painted, etc..

I ll check with my dealer to see if they can do anything for me. Not holding my breath.

List price for the sedan rear tail light is like $220. You can order online from OEM dealers for $150 or so.

How do I locate an OEM dealer?

The part number should be 26554-jl00b for passenger side tail light assembly. Parts.com have it for 200 shipped.

Be sure that you have the right part number. I can't ever remember if "RIGHT" means passenger or driver side.

Based on this picture, it appears to be the driver's side but that may be a general picture, not an actual one:

LENS & HOUSING | Genuine Infiniti | 26554JL00B

This place has it for $177, but not sure what shipping brings it up to. They call it the RIGHT side light:

I would also suggest that you search that part number on google and ebay as well to see what you come up with.
