can I buy headlight internals?
can I buy headlight internals?
I was putting in some Morimoto 5500k bulbs (I'll never buy Morimoto again) today, I noticed that the passenger side was a tad loose and moved around slightly in the housing. So I thought a strategic bend in the wire clips that hold in the bulb was in order. I ended up breaking one side where the wire clips are held.
I thought it was metal, but it's plastic. A piece of plastic flew off and got lost for 15 minutes, until I looked in the bumper. I was able to reattach it with super glue and it's holding for now, but I have my doubts about this long term.
I don't want a new light as it would look weird with one side old I think. I would like the internal part where the D2S bulb mounts. Is this possible? Can this be changed without breaking the seal on the headlight assembly only thorough the bulb hole opening?
Oh yeah, the reason why I'll never buy those bulbs again. ..I've bought 2 sets so far and each set has had a single defective bulb.

Also interested in this... Lost one of those eye glass sized screws in the bumper. Electrical tape for now...
I've only been able to find complete assemblies and I'm not paying $700+ to replace 1 .001 cent screw lol

OK, so here's a picture of the retaining clip.

There's nothing wrong with the clip, except maybe it needs bending to there's more pressure on the bulb. My bulb moves around ever-so-slightly on the passenger side. I was applying too much force while clipped in trying to bend the retaining clip to make it sit tighter in the assembly.
The part of the projector that the retaining clip locks into has broken. Here's a picture of the projector housing and I've drawn a red line to show where the break occurred on the plastic where those retaining clips are fastened (other side really, but it's dark in this picture)

This is starting to sound like a bigger job than I'd like
If I'm going to have to open up the headlight assembly, may as well paint it black in there while I'm at it
