I figured you didn't constantly check for deals on midnight grilles but I thought maybe you cross paths wih them occasionally while looking for other mods. Thank you for going back and finding it again I appreciate it.

So I got excited and went to the link you sent. Turns out that the $200 price tag is for sedan only. The midnight grill for the sedan actually costs only $159 thru ebay for the last 4 months at least. Too bad the one for the coupe is 300. I'm still gojng to have to paint mine.

 

Like I said, the place that did mine may not have been as good as I'd hoped. They used 3 coats of clear but it may not have been the best quality

 

If you want your grille to look exactly like the Midnight Grille, then purchase the Midnight Grille online, and move on. It used to cost twice as much as you can get it for today. And while a body shop can do a really good job, unless you're going outside the box (literally), at best you might save $50. And that's just not worth the effort, IMO.

As for "outside the box"...

 

To each his own, but why any G owner would do anything other than this is beyond me.

 

Lol there is no doubt that Rochester's grill is unique and simply sweet as they come. Not to mention the classy feel that it lends to the entire front of the car. Those amber fog lights do the same thing. Love it.

But some of us have color schemes we are going for which call for a different look. I prefer the midnight version on my car bc it has the gloss black that I need to go along with the dark tint and the diffuser....the chrome parts of the grill go with my Fugi symbol and will come into play with the engine bay I have planned. Also I want the black grill bc it will show off my LT CAI's from the correct angle.

 

You can also choose to go even further "outside the box"

Lance: I also have a black G and got my grill painted to match the car. I liked it at first, but after a while, it felt like it just blended in with the rest of the front end. I found a midnight grill a few months ago on ebay for $150 shipped, and I'm happier with it. I'd love to get a grill vinyled in black chrome, but who knows how long before I actually try it.

Thank you sir, grille was ordered from "CMOD" but had to swap out mesh and insert emblem.

Like you I feel the fully blacked out grille blends in too much (still looks pretty good), and although the midnight grille looks great, it became out of place on my car since I pretty much eliminated every last bit of chrome (with exception to those fog light rings that I can't figure out )

I sprayed mine with https://www.duplicolor.com/products/shadow/ came out looking pretty nice, except i didn't angle it right and the top part doesn't have enough paint, can only see it if your close and looking from the top. might fix it later down the road, i actually sprayed 3M clearbra thing under it not wanting a permanent paint, don't know if it will still peel off xD

 

Do you still have the black grille with the chrome fuji?

 

I'm in process of doing the same. I can't seem to make up my mind on the new mesh though.

I wrapped my fog bezels, held up okay so far.

 

Only a problem for a black car. A fully blacked out grill would look better on a lighter colored car...silver or white for example.

I like contrast myself...so I would like to get my grill updated at some point. I'm either going with the Midnight Grille, or having mine painted. The reseller on eBay who's been selling them for $159 is now selling them for $199. I am holding out hoping the price drops back...or a "best offer" option is added.

I've noticed that since they restocked a week ago at the new price, only 1 has sold. Perhaps after another week of stagnant sales, they may consider lowering the price

 

Anyone else notice that the Coupe version of the midnight grille costs around $100 more than the sedan version. This just blows my mind, why so much more expensive?
