Rear Window Trim

I just purchased a 2011 G37 that just came off of a lease. The car is very clean except a problem that I noticed involving the rubber bottom trim around both rear quarter panel windows. Both sides show that the rubber molding is faded and discolored. I just thought I could just pick up the rubber molding from the dealer.I was told that the rubber molding comes only with the glass and each side would be about $240 to replace. Does anyone else have this same problem with the rubber molding?

I got same problem, my dealer told me that this can be cleaned using wet sandpaper or any abrasive detailer component.
The person who told me this is the maintenance supervisor at warren henry infiniti and is very knowledgeable. I trust his judgement because he has proven himself a couple of times before. I think its a common problem.
I am planning to try it out upcoming weekend.

I am positive it is a manufacturing defect that Infiniti does not want to stand behind their product. Did your contact mention what grit on the wet sand paper. On of my coworkers has a 2003 G35 and what he did was mask off the piece and then sprayed on the liquid rubber now being sold at Home Depot. He told me his came out looking like new. Interesting how on my car it is only on the rear quarter panel windows. All my other trim looks brand spanking new!

yeah, I would have to agree that its infiniti's manufacturing fault here because I have seen this defect in quite a few cars.
I will try to clean it and if it doesn't come off, I will take it back to the dealer and have him clean \ replace it under warranty.

Just curious. Is something like this covered under the 4 year warranty?

You will have to talk to them. If they are nice, they will do it for you.
Dealership is making money, doesn't matter if you pay or the factory. If my trim cant be cleaned, I will talk to them and have them replace it under warranty as an engineering defect from infiniti's side.

I have had my driving seat bottom section changed on my 2012 sedan. Seat had that well known air bubble, had it replaced under manufacturing fault, they gave me a brand new seat bottom!

Window Trim problems?

My 2011 has had both driver and passenger trim peeling off. Car is garaged and pampered. Is there a class problem or TSB re: defective trim for G37's? If so would appreciate the TSB number.
