Diode Dynamics Interior LEDs/1st Post

I figured now was a better time than ever to make my first post and join the forum. I've been lurking here since the beginning of May when I bought my first G37 (2012 Sedan), which I f******* love by the way. My first upgrade was an inexpensive one but completely changed the look of the interior and I couldn't be happier.

I order all of the SMD2 interior LEDs and license plate LEDs from Diode Dynamics a little over a week ago. I ended up calling to make sure I was getting the correct "stage" since I read on here that they were/are in the process of changing the way bulbs were listed. Nick (not sure which one, since I believe there are two) was a huge help and made sure that I was getting exactly what I wanted. The bulbs came in two days later and were packed/labeled really well. Total install time was about 30 mins (should've been 20 or less), only because one of the license plate light housing got snagged and I wanted to make sure I didn't damage anything.

Like I previously said, I couldn't be happier with their product/service. I'm in the process of deciding on which D2S, fogs, and all other exterior lights I should go with, but unless y'all have some different recommendations I'll most likely go with DD since I was so impressed by the way the interior lights turned out. The only complaint I have is the decal they sent me with the lights, it'll take up the entire back window lol. I'll work on a window decal for them and send it out for production

I love mine, but give it sometime. I h had my fogs burn out in 3 days, but they did send me replacements. Just a hassle as you haveb to remove the tire to change headlight bulbs.

That's not a regular occurrence with our products. They have a failure rate of less than 3% across our entire product range

But if you do have issues, we are here to help and make sure you are taken care of

Very Nice!! Can you provide the part number or color code so if I want to order them? Let me know the quantity you ordered. Did you do the vanity mirror too?

If you are looking from outside the dome face plate, do you see the LED bulb? are the color white as it appears in person or different.

Thanks.

Thanks man, you'll be extremely happy with the look once they're all installed. Just don't be like me and install them in the afternoon because I had to wait like eight hours for the sun to go down to really appreciate them! I did all interior lights (excluding the glove box) and license plate lights. As far as seeing the LED bulb, I'm not really sure if I understand your question but you can see a slight outline of the bulb, it doesn't look bad in the least bit. I'll try to take some more pics once the sun goes down and hopefully that'll answer your question. One last thing, I highly recommend going with the bulbs/brightness I have listed below. Going up in brightness from these would be too bright, but that's just my personal preference. Hope this helps you out!

Here are links to all of the bulbs I purchased and all bulbs I ordered were Cool White.

Almost forgot your question about the whiteness of these bulbs...These pictures are pretty much spot on from the color, which kind of surprised me, seeing I used my GoPro to take them.

Nick or anyone on here who can answer these questions for me would be a huge help and I would greatly appreciate it...I've had several items in my DD shopping cart for the last few days and trying to get more info before I submit my order, so here are my questions..

1. Do you have any pics of the SMD13 (90 Lumens) on a G37 sedan? I just want to make sure they aren't too bright and will closely match the color of the license plate LEDs.

2. Do you have any pics of the 6000k D2S HID Bulbs on a G37? I've heard some members have had issues in the past with one side not staying on and just want to make sure I'll be good (2012 sedan).

3. Do you have any pics of a G37 with SMD2 City Lights by themselves and one with them paired with the 6000k D2S HIDs?

4. Will the SMD18 LED Fogs match the 6000k D2S HIDs?

5. Any pics of the SMD60 Switchbacks on a G37 and do you recommend the resistor kit?

Once again, thanks to anyone who can help me out with these questions!

it may be a bad picture but if you put the map light cover back on & turn the light on, are you able to see the led bulb from the outside? maybe confusing, but so if you have 9 led bulb on the light & if you put the cover back on, are you able to see the 9 or can you tell that it has 9 from outside?

The picture that you posted is a different bulb from the one I ordered. On DD that is the SMD12 Board (118 Lumens). I ordered the SMD2 (24 Lumens) which is the same bulb in the picture I've attached. The SMD12 is $28 which is $20 more than the SMD2. I didn't go with the SMD2 because it was cheaper, I went with it because I thought 118 Lumens sounded bright as f*** and didn't want the interior lighting to be over the top lol.

The way the bulbs are listed on their site compared to the descriptions of the pictures are different. From what I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong), they're moving away from the "Stage" description and converting to the actual bulb/board type. So using the picture from DD that shows the brightness levels in stages, the bulb conversion SHOULD be - SMD2=Stage 1, SMD5=Stage 2 and SMD12=Stage 3. I would pick your bulb/brightness level off of what look you're wanting according to this picture.

Like I said in a previous post, the SMD2 (Stage 1) was the look I was going for and definitely achieved it. The angle of the picture and any background light is going to effect the overall look, so keep that in mind as well. I'm also going to attach a daylight pic of my map light so you can see how the light is dispersed. Hope this helps you out and I believe I have earned some type of sponsorship from DD by now!
