Before you get flamed to death I'll try and help you out...

With headlights you're better off painting the inside of the housing to change the appearance rather than tinting the outside of the headlight. There is a DIY here for Doing It Yourself but it does involve removing the front bumper and putting your very expensive headlights in an oven...

Or you can pay someone to do it for you....

On top of being a bad idea, tinting your headlights looks bad and is illegal. Not to mention if you get in an accident at night your insurance company could technically refuse to cover your claim....

Exactly. This is what I don't understand about people that tint/modify their tails or headlights. If you are in any type of accident, even if it is not your fault! (i.e you get rear ended) If the driver that hit you knows anything about this, all he has to say is he couldn't see your modified lights and you will be at fault for all of the damage. Is it likely to happen? probably not but that is the risk.

Guess I'm a weirdo; I want as much visibility as possible at night...

I see that on a lot of cars. trust me it doesn't look good in person because it covers the entire lens. It looks much better if you pull apart the headlights and paint the inside.

Not to mention it dims the lights SOOOO much. It is essentially window tint. ie 20% or 35% of light (your headlights) actually shines through. Imagine driving a dimly lit side street with your headlights off in the middle of the night. same conditions.
