In speaking with the folks in Japan it appears Rochester is correct and the inners are all the same. Which does seem odd to me as well. The color difference was slightly noticeable between the two when I had them in, at least it was to me though I didn't mind it.

To me, the lit signal and its differentiation was important. Could be because of the war zone I drive in but I like having the amber lit for a turn. IIRC there is also the deletion of a side marker light in the tail which changes things a bit visually.

To Rochester's point the driver doesn't see that either. But, as I get older there are things I can't see anymore but am comforted knowing they are there...

Well, that's it for me. Hard stop on this mod, and off the list.

Bummer.

I'm still trying to figure out the issue... somehow the inners don't match the outer tails?

I looked at the photos posted earlier in the thread, is it more a trick of the light than anything? I know you saw these in-person Rochester...

I was looking at these as a possible upgrade myself, but if the color difference is as distinctive in person, I guess not. I'll have to think about B@t's GT-R overlays a little more.

In my opinion the color difference isn't too bad. Is it noticeable? Yes if, a) you know it's there b) have an eye like Rochester c) look closely. Mine were a slight pink as opposed to the reddish but once I went midnight there was no issue. At the same time, my inner self were also slightly darker due to some work I had done.

No, the color saturation of the plastic is lighter in the JDM tails, giving them a more misty-red look. A *better* look, IMO. Particularly with that big circle of amber behind it in the turn signals.

However, it clashes with the inners (back-up lights), and looks wrong because of it. Just not a compromise I'd be willing to make, which was why I assumed (wrongly) that JDM inners matched. I'm kind of shocked that they don't.

For $10 I wanted to do an output comparison between the Diode Dynamics Tail-as-Turn module and the JDM Tail Lights w/ VLEDS V3 Triton Amber LEDs. I've been running the latter setup for almost a year.

Day:

Night:

Based on these results, I'd have to give a slight advantage to the DD Module. However, I'm going to stick with the JDM Tail Lights because the DD module has an annoying quirk, to me at least, where the front and rear turn signals become out of sync when the brakes are applied.

^thought DD was still working on the "tail as turn" mod for the sedan? The plug-n-play kit is available now?

No, the plug-n-play kit still isn't available for the sedan. But there is a DIY mod they sell which can be used on any car. I'm assuming that's what he used.

Thanks.

Looks like I'll be getting them anyways. I'll be in Japan this summer so I'll be able to get a closer look.

The power used by LEDs is so low that it tricks your car into thinking your turn signal is out which is why it blinks fast. You will need to install resistors to fix that.
