Headlight Issue

So I purchased my D2S bulbs & fog light HID kit from Diode Dynamics for my 2011 G37 Sedan. The fog lights are working with no problems, but unfortunately my headlights were not immediately stay on. I would have to turn them off multiple times before they stayed on. I contacted DD and they sent out a replacement set no questions asked. When I received the replacement I was having the same issue only on the drivers side. I contacted them yet again and they sent out just 1 replacement bulb for the drivers side. After I replaced it again it continued to happen, I contacted them yet again to seek any guidance from them and they suggested that it could possibly be the ballast which is what my mechanic and I were assuming as well. So I took my car into the dealer and they installed 2 brand new headlight, ballast, bulbs, etc. After I left the dealer I swapped out the bulbs for the new ones that DD sent me yesterday and the same issue is happening again. DD, my mechanic, and I think putting a bigger fuse might fix the issue, but before I go ahead and do that I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this before as well, and what did you do to correct the issue?

**Please note by no means am I bashing DD in any way shape or form, as they have been more than helpful in attempting to get this issue resolved and my lights working**

Thanks in advance everyone!!

Don't put a bigger fuse in, that's not going to help anything and will end up doing more damage.

Give us a call: (314) 205-3033

We haven't had any issues with 2011 and earlier cars, but we removed the replacement bulbs for 2012+ due to flickering issues. Our customer support team will give you more information and get you pointed in the right direction

I'm sorry to hear that you are having these issues

I had the same issue with their head light bulbs. I had them installed in my '09 no problem, but had a lot of problems when I tried to install them in my '11. I think when they changed the head lights for 2010 the changed the ballast slightly so they don't seat correctly. I never could get them to work. They would turn on and then immediately turn off and stay off. I decided to pay more and get Osram Xenarc bulbs and had no problem installing them and have enjoyed them ever since.

I had the same issue in my 2010 with DDM Tuning bulbs. Upgraded to Morimotos and still the same issue. It's an issue with the ballasts. Some of our cars run into problems and some don't. My next step was going to be Osrams, but idk if I can justify spending that kind of money on 2 light bulbs.

I don't know if you know this, but our ballasts are very sensitive to D2S bulbs.

It has been reported that our ballasts (Matsus-hita) has many problems with aftermarket HID bulbs.

Best go with Osram CBI or Philips or OEM Koito bulbs. You can read about compatibility issues on HIDPlanet.

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...BSSSSSS-Issues

There are many reports of this, even theretrofitsource website says the ballasts we have will have problems with aftermarket bulbs.

From description of our ballast:
"The Matsu ballasts are best used with Philips or Osram bulbs, sometimes have trouble igniting aftermarket lamps."

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I contacted DD and they issued an RMA, once I am refunded I will be possibly looking into the Phillips since they are the stock bulbs used now, and if that doesn't work then I will pony up the money for the Osrams. I will keep all posted.

The ballasts in the 2010+ G37's are way more picky about what bulbs they'll ignite. If you stick to OEM quality (Phillips, Osram/Sylvania, and whatever came in the car, they just say KOITO JAPAN) then you'll be fine. If I could make any recommendation on bulbs I would go get a pair of Osram 66240 CBI.'

EDIT: should have read the whole thread :P

I have to say, DD really stands by their stuff and, I think, provides exceptional customer service. Sorry to hear you had problems, I had excellent experiences with my purchases and what I've installed.
