thinking about painting my taillights

I'm debating on painting the taillights on my athens blue 08 coupe.. I want to paint them the factory color leaving just the two circles and reverse lights, kind of like the GTR style. Your thoughts on this? Think it would look clean or ricey?

My vote goes for ricey, try and find some pics of this done before you pull the trigger, doesn't look as good as you think it would.

If it's done well it will look good, if not then yes it'll look meh. Here's a good coupe DIY for this, and you'll see the pics of the finished product looks better than OEM.

I saw that post before. Been trying to search for one with the taillights painted to match the car in that fashion. I'm thinking it might look really clean if done right, just having the two circles visible. If I wanted to go all out might fill the gaps between where the light housing meets the body so it would look like one solid piece. But that would mean filling with bondo and having to paint a good portion of the rear end.

Color matched tails w/ the GTR cutouts would be tough to get looking right, the LEDs are back from the lens a bit so w/ certain angles they look off. The Niteshades version comes out better (again, if done well) since it's tint and not a complete blackout.
