Seat heater issue

I recently took my coupe (2008 g37 sport) into the dealership to check out the seat heaters, both not getting warm. I was told that the driver side back and seat is bad, the passengar back is also bad, and the estimated cost of repair is $3800. WTH???????????

apparently they are quoting a replacement of all leather etc. I know that there are vehicles out there that get aftermarket heaters for about $800, is it possible that they could be sewn into the leather or is the dealer a serial rapist????????????:m admad:

I would look into an upholstery shop. I assume the lights on the switches come on.

Definitely see about something aftermarket. I quoted adding seat heaters to an S2000 several years ago, and without anything already in place (no such amenity there), the price was below $500. You could probably get someone to work with your factory components or just install something new for much less than what they quoted you. At that price, I would assume they are replacing the seats. Ridiculous.

Yeah, no doubt...you live in Texas...?...try leather with no heated seats in Michigan in January/February. Your (_|_) will go numb. Best invention ever!

But I agree with $3800 being WAY TOO MUCH!

the labor was only $300 in the entire equation, apparently im told the leathers etc have to be replaced because the heating element is all stiched into the leather as one unit

Take a look on ebay some one has a set of tan leather seats for $500 for both seats plus $200 for shipping not sure what color you need and you could call your local salvage yards to see if they have them or try Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market which checks salvage yards all over the us for what ever part your looking for.

For my 2007 g35x there was a tech bulletin for faulty seat heater wires that caused my seat heaters to not work properly. Check to see if it affects your model as well. I took the tech bulletin to the dealer and got it fixed for free (was still under warranty at the time)

ok update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i received a survey after I had the service visit and filed a complaint with Infiniti, the dealer's service director contacted me, and requested i bring the vehicle back, they apparently contracted an aftermarket company to come in and add heated seats to the vehicle, they were able to keep the original switches, and to be honest it gets hotter than the loaner g37 with the dial switch heaters. Apparently the squeaky wheel get the oil.
