OEM spoiler installation qustions

So I finally got my spoiler put on, went the DIY route, and messed up a few things, nothing to terrible, but still annoying.

I was curious exactly what that harness was for, I hooked it up, incorrectly the first time; anytime I stepped on the brake it opened the trunk. lol
So I took out the wire and everything seemed to work find without it, still put it in the correct slot of the harness, but I still don't know what it was for?

2nd part I messed up was the biggest part, on the side holes that you drill, I drilled all the way through the trunk when you weren't supposed to. /sigh...so now I need to find a rubber plug or something to fill the hole on the bottom of the trunk.

3rd part is I tapped the spoiler down, and forgot to put the grommets in the left and right hole on top, hopefully it's not a big deal? Only way to fix it would be to pull the spoiler off and get some new 3m tape.
From what I've read a lot of people don't even drill those holes, so I'm thinking maybe no big deal also? Just worrying more about water leaking in or something if it rains?

Anyways, any advice, or ideas? I'll post some pictures later, it looks great other than the mistakes I made.

I would pull/retape the spoiler if the grommets you did not get installed are the 18mm L/R corner ends. Those could be problamatic if you dont have that grommet w/gasket installed.

Infiniti needs to work on making better instructions in my opinion. It would be nice if they had real pics instead of drawings. Any accesory I have installed on this car has taken 4 times as long due to me trying to decipher the instructions.

I was afraid someone would say that, I'll probably have the dealership re-due it, maybe they won't charge as much just to take it off and put it back on.

Agreed on the instructions, it was kind of all over the place. If i was to do it a 2nd time, it would take 1/4 the time, and be so easy.

Damn, Zydan you're crazy bro. Let me know how it turns out, price etc. Also, are you replacing the shelf in the back with the other brake light? I had my chrome spoiler painted by 180 so I might be good for now but deep down, I still want that oem spoiler lol. Post pics please!

I had no problems with the install .... you have to take your time and read the instructions several times, slowly. Yes, I'm afraid you need to redo it ... never read here about anyone not using the gromets unless it's a non- OEM ebay knock-off that doesn't use them.

Nah, not replacing the shelf, I have the entire back window tinted at 20%, you can't even see the shelf or the old brake light anyways so not going to worry about it. Will post here later once I get it fixed~ weeee

Yeah man, I don't know what happened, I mean I had read through the instructions several times, and new I had to put the grommets there, but when it came time it just completely slipped my mind, of course I remembered just a few minutes after the tape was already down.

Going to see about getting it re-done after the Thanksgiving, fun fun

Sucks man .... good luck. I say def get it fixed. It would be something that would haunt me (**** perfectionist :-) ) knowing it wasn't right and worrying would it come off cruising down the road. Like one of those Mayhem commercials.

What up! The spoiler I got from Infiniti for $485 shipped, local body shop wanted $175 for install, Infiniti wanted $280 or something ridiculous.
Ended up doing it myself, then paid the local body shop $75 to fix what I messed up above lol

So total endded up being like $550 I guess? Freaking expensive spoiler

Ordering IPL rear bumper next week to complete the kit finally.!

Thanks bro. I think I'm going to pull the trigger. I'm going to buy the shelf for 219 and the OEM spoiler. Just some stupid questions , was what you ordered the whole trunk? Or just the spoiler? Because I'm looking at orderinfinitiparts and it looks like you have to order all the emblems such as the infiniti and the g37 letters?

Congrats on the install. I'm dropping way too much money on this car .

It was just the spoiler, but did come with some trunk parts like the hydrolics, not sure why? There were no letters or anything like that though.

You won't be disappointed, it looks great, and I feel you on the money!

Haha Zydan, you have convinced me to go with it. There goes 688.00 out the door. I'm also having 180 install the TSX R lens which costs another 200 bucks. Not sure how much they will charge me for installing the shelf and the spoiler.

I'd estimate another grand out my bank account. My girlfriend is going to murder me. I'll post pictures if I'm still alive .
