Impressions on sport seats? 2011 sport sedan
Does anyone have comfort issues with sport seats? I have been driving my new-to-me 2011 G37S sedan 6MT for a week now and have noticed my back aching. Not positive it is the car, but I have a hunch the seats aren't the most cozy.
Somne people hate them some love them. I do beleive it has something to do with driver size, height etc. I have done several 10 hour each way drives in them and love them. Others hate them. I am 5-10 175#. My wife loves them and she is 5-3 105#.
My 09 S has terrible seats. First it was the metal brackets that was like a pair of medieval times torture clamps. I cut that off, then my back was really sore. I removed the air pump assembly in the back of the seat, better but still hurts. The sport seats simply are too hard and horribly shaped. I like the car, but the seats suck big time. Maybe Nissan realized that so now they are blowing their horn about how good the Altima seats are.
I love the sport seats. They are one of the many reasons I went from an 07X to the S last year. (6MT being the biggest reason)
I wouldn't say that I find them either more or less comfortable than standard seats but they are definitely better for spirited driving.

At risk of asking whether I look fat in these jeans (probably do)... I'm 5'10 and 190 pounds, so these seats are borderline for me. If I gain any significant weight, I'll probably be bumming about the car seats.
That said, when I first bought the car, I widened the side-support as much as possible. Then a few months later, I found myself tightening things up again. Sport seating is the new normal for me, and when I get into a car without them, it feels wrong.
In other words, give yourself some time. It takes much more than a single week to get acclimated to sport seats.

i love the S seats. i've driven many non-S loaners and each time i can't wait to get back in to mine. the lower leg extension support, lumbar and bolster adjustments allow a wide range of adjustment. works great for me. others seem to groan about them, to each his own.
i'm 6', 195lbs. wife likes them too. she's 5'7", 125lbs.

6'4" 230 lbs is probably what's killing me haha. Thanks for the input guys.
CodeG - mind providing more details on where the metal bracket is and what the air pump does/ how to remove?

As others have said, its a matter of taste. Personally for me, at first my body was sore after driving for a while with the sport seats, then I made some adjustments and wouldn't give them up for anything. I LOVE THE SPORT SEATS, especially for "spirited" driving, which I probably do wayy to often. LOL!!!!
mine bothered me for a bit, but like others have said you get used to them. Make a few adjustments until your comfortable and they're pretty good. Drove for 3 hours straight last weekend and wasn't sore at all during the trip or after.
I sat in the driver's seat of the new Scion FRS a few days ago. While the seats are thin & ugly, and the cloth material sucks... the ergonomics felt absolutely perfect. Better than my G37S.
Not to get too off-topic, but the steering wheel and 6MT shifter were better than my G as well. The rest of the car? Nah, not even close. Not by a mile.
