Tear Down and Remodeling!

Last week I decided to take on a pretty big project (for me at least) and the materials finally started to come in. I don't want to say much, but let the pictures do the talking.

I'm trying something I haven't seen on many cars, let alone on any g.

To give an over view of whats changing, much of the interior has been 'gutted' out. From the headliner and pillars to the interior console and the aluminium trim, the car's interior is being transformed aesthetically. This is my first big project I'm tackling with a buddy of mine so I'll be sure to include pics along the way.

For starters, here is what we accomplished tonight:

Update 1.05.12
I thought I'd put up a pic of the fabric so you can start to picture how this might look. I have a rough idea, but in all honestly I wont know the how well everything will flow till its done. Cheers to uncertainty

Update 1.09.12
WOW this carbon fiber/kevlar weave is ridiculously hard to cut! Went through at least four different kinds of scissors and nothing seems to cut this stuff easily! Such a pain. It feel like the hardest part of laying the carbon fiber fabric is just cutting it to size and trimming it along the edges! Anyways, last night the fabric was placed on all the parts being covered. Still some pieces have to be trimmed and taped down, but for the majority the hardest part is done. First coat of resin will probably go on today! Here are some crappy pics I managed to take last night. It was kind of dark inside so the pics without flash look darker than the real thing and the pics with flash look too bright. I guess try to imagine it looking somewhere in between :/

Wow, looks like you've got some big plans. This thread reminds me of this one:

And this one:

Do you have a particular color / finish / style in mind?

yes everything was planned out before tear down. I'll tell you now it will definitely look more aggressive than conservative.

thanks! spend a lot of time cleaning that place up. Before I wanted to actually use it for cars, you could barely walk in it.. Idk why in my house any unused room just becomes a large garbage dump.

it is going to be a fun journey. some will appreciate it while others will think its too sporty/agressive for the g.. but at this point in my life, an agressive car wont hurt

the blue carbon fiber headliner should be interesting. Props for taking on such a large project. Excited to see how it turns out.

thanks man. a lot of the other pieces are blue cf too. I suppose the lighting doesnt really show it and makes it look like regular cf. Only a couple pieces are in regular cf. Project should be done before the end of the week!

yeah the lighting really doesnt do it justice.. 2/3 of the stuff being covered is in blue/black cf while the remaining 1/3 is in regular black cf. i chose blue because i wanted to have something that 'popped' a little more than regular cf. the center console pieces are being done in the blue/black cf. ive seen a lot of you guys do your center console trims in regular cf and i really liked the look. I then decided to go with a two tone cf fabric to make it a bit more unique but mainly just so it added some color to the interior. my car from the outside is pretty black'ed out, so having some color on the interior would offset the the graphite interior nicely in my opinion!

sorry guys been snowboarding the last few days so i havent had a chance to work on it much! hopefully i can get some more work done tomorrow and put pics up!
