De-badging Questions
De-badging Questions
Hey forum! Thinking about debadging the "INFINITI" off of the trunk. Saw the DIY and it seemed pretty easy. The DIY said to use a adhesive solvent, but didnt specify which one/brand/etc. So my question to the people who have debadged something on their car, what solvent did you use? Where can i get it? Price?
And one more noob question lol. The DIY said that if there is a shadow from the badge left, you should wax it. What does he mean?
Thanks for the help!

automotive goo gone, less tan ten bucks from any auto store! you need to polish out the ghost of the emblem, i have a ****ting simonz polisher i used, but you could remove it by hand
Goo gone, any kind of bug/tar remover, etc. I used Cheimcal Guys Bug and Tar Remover personally
The "ghosting" is just like a shadow that is left when you take the emblems off. I debadged mine after over a year and there was no ghosting whatsoever

The shadowing is only typically there on "older" cars b/c the paint gets lighter from the sun and the paint area under the emblem has been protected and is thus slightly darker. I just did my 2011 G and no issues...but did my 2005 maxima and had some light shadows.
debadging is the easiest **** ever!! I do it a lot for customers, everything comes of by hand, but if needed dental floss works best, then peel of the sticky with your fingers and use goo gone and bam! and if needed use a wax like turtle wax or whatever and polish it up. theres your 2 sentence diy!

yep, w/ these guys. Did it on both my 35 and 37. MAKE SURE to heat it up. They will come off like butta!
1. Soak it up good in goo gone.
2. take a blow drier or heat gun and heat it up
3. take a towel/fish line and just go right under the letters. They'll come RIGHT off! Then soak the towel in goo gone and the adhesive will come right off w/ heat as well.
tadah! one clean asssssssss!~!!

Question: What about the Mt. Fugi on the trunk?
Does this badge pin in the trunk lid?
If I remove this will there be 2 holes in the trunk?
Not to be a thread stealer, but I have been contemplating this for a while.

no, thats typical of Honda, but not the infiniti! You should be fine

I just used the Goo Gone as refered to by everyone else. I actually found it at the grocery store in the automotive section, try to soak the letters and adhesive pretty good. The blow dryer also makes this alot easier on the hands. I tried it without and the floss was cutting into my hands, but after heated up a little it came right off. Takes about 10-30 minutes and some elbow grease.
