I've looked all around and interestingly haven't found anything about the auto headlight sensitivity settings on the forum here. I'm referring specifically to the setting under driver comfort, etc.

I've had my G for about a month now and have been going back and forth between the 2nd and 3rd setting (out of four). I find that on setting 2, the headlights won't come on when its raining during the day. I find that on setting 3, the headlights will come on after going under a brief overpass on a bright sunny day. It's almost like I am looking for setting 2.5. Not that this is an issue, but I am wondering what you guys use for this setting.

With either of the G's I've had, I've never used this. Maybe I will someday...but I just can't get into it.

 

I have mine adjusted to the most sensitive setting so they will come on in fog, haze, etc. Only thing is I wish is that there was a little delay in when they turn on, because they come on everytime I pull in the garage.

 

i don't use it. i hate it when it comes on for 4 seconds when i go through an overpass or pulling in or out of the garage. .

 

I drive through the night with lights off....hahahaha.



I manually turn the lights on and off myself. Auto isn't that great.

 

i drive with my lights on all the time, so it's not an issue for me.

I also don't like it when the headlights turn on whenever I'm pulling into or out of my garage, so I don't use the auto setting.
The manual mentions something about premature wear if you turn the lights on and off a lot. I don't want to have to spend the money on new headlights any sooner then I have to.

 

never use auto. another step to the nanny state, like DRL's. soon this will be mandatory.

 

Xenon bulb doesn't wear out fast. It's worn out by short on/off cycle. When it's warmed up properly (takes 15s or longer), it will last for the life of the vehicle. My 03 G35's xenon headlights are still very bright after 6 years.
Xenon bulbs are cheap now but I don't want to mess up my ballasts + I don't trust machine.

 

I set it to auto and the lowest sensitivty when I got my car 2 years ago and haven't touched it since.

 

I think I have it on 2 or 3 but usually just do it myself. If its cloudy or raining I will turn them on, and I always have them on if I get on the highway.

 

I also vote for sensitivity-1 , not that it matters....my light is on all the time as the canadian model requires DRL and the low-beam HID IS the DRL....leaving me no choice, so the auto pretty much only controls the fog light and rear light. Reason why I try to set it at low auto is the same as some ppl that pulling throught bridge or garage will turn it on. For others cars that I owned I always use manual...now that hid is on constantly i just set it on auto since it doesnt matter =D

 

I set mine to the highest sensitivity. I like the fact that they come on when go under a bridge or into a parking garage. Just added safety if you ask me.

 

i never use it. only time its 'on' is when my mom borrows the car for work.

my previous cars i had to manually turn them on and got used to it. even on my Corolla that had the 'auto' feature i do manually since i lost the 'auto' function when i disabled my drl's.
