Everyone is going to have a different preference... That said, I prefer Formula One Tint.

I had Madico Onyx on my old car, really liked it. Nice metallic film.

When I got my G, I went with Suntek Carbon. I like the lifetime warranty against peeling, cracking, and fading.

You best bet might be to find someone who has been around for a while that offers a lifetime warranty.

I believe some tint film brands are:

3M
Llumar
Huper Optik

i went with Llumar. it has a lifetime warranty and the guy who installed it also pointed out that if you move or go to another area thats too far from where you originally had it installed and you have issues you can just bring it to any llumar dealer and they will fix it free of charge.

i'm also very happy with the results. i noticed a huge reduction in glare since having it installed.

you can check out the place i had it installed to see some pictures of what it will look like on your g. the website is Shades of Gray Window Tinting - Bucks County and Philadelphia and they are based in northeast philadelphia.

also one last tip - when you're picking a percent on your tint make sure you consider the color of your interior. my friend who has a black interior got 30% which is what i got on my car but i have a light interior. during the day his tint is EXTREMELY dark and mine is perfect but maybe even a little too light.

make sure you pick out the look you're going for first and keep in mind the interior and how that will affect the appearance of the tint.

Good luck!

not to hijack the thread, but is it normal for there to be bubbles in the tint on the day after installation? i know the guy told me to wait 2 days for it to completely dry, but the bubbles are rather disconcerting...

Creepers, yeah my tint installer said the same thing. i noticed some small bubbles right after the install and within a week they were either very tiny or gone completely. i guess its the application fluid drying out. and to the OP, i used johnson window films on two of my cars. never had fading issue and looks professional.

Thanks mystakin. I feel reassured. I guess I'll be patient and see if they disappear. A few of them are quite large, though. But the place said they would fix anything so I do have recourse.

I got some 35% all around Llumar installed last fall; cost me about $120 with the same benefits. I have a Stone interior, so it seems pretty light in bright sun, I might consider getting it darkened to 20% some time soon.

Anywho, the bubbles are normal. Just keep the car dry and clean for about a week and it will all settle nicely. Only problem I have is when you open the door, the window drops the 1/2 inch and that portion of the tint is slightly off color and looks almost stretched a very little.
