You typically won't see the stuff we're talking about on White...

i can see it our mw in the garage, only when there is low light from the single florescent bulb on the ceiling. tons of hairline scratches on the hood. my kids love to walk by the front of the car and drag their hand over the hood. i can see the scratches multiply under this light afterwords just from the thin layer of dust accumulated after a couple days. i wish i had the self healing clear coat! ill be getting a polisher soon.

basically TOO MUCH ORANGE PEEL in the paint.

bmw and audi charge like $500 for a color but at least the paint is flat.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest some of you guys learn how to properly care for your paint. I would direct you to our detailing forum, lots of good information. If dust is causing swirl marks, maybe you are doing something like wiping it with quik detailer while its dusty?

I agree that our paint could be better, but its paint, not titanium armor plating.

Does anyone have issues with peeling paint? I bought a new G37s coupe in May 2009 with 12 kilometers and at about 2000 kilometers the paint started peeling in three locations.
1) Left fender
2) Left front bumper at fender
3) Right front bumper

The hood, fender and front bumper were repainted and luckily the dealership bought the car back less taxes.

I bought a replacement new G37s, this time in AG. I just noticed the paint starting to chip/peel on the front bumper again. Although, this time my car is at 18,000 kilometers.
I've read of 370Z's and GT-R with the same problems (do a quick google search for 370z paint defects)

I totally agree. I feel like Infiniti applies their clearcoat over an already orange peeled base color. You can get the best possible polish on the clear, and it's still orange peeled in a reflection. Sometimes I feel like the fiberglass on my boat gives me a better shine than my blue steel G.

My guess is that Infiniti uses either antiquated paint processes or simply has shortcutted some important paint preparation techniques. A Hyundai Sonata has far better paint...check for yourself. From what I understand, orange peel can be reduced by applying a sanding process between multiple base coats and the final clear coat. The result is the highly disappointing finish we all dislike. The hood, roof, and truck deck aren't too bad...the sides are another story. The paint on my new G has more orange peel than my daughter's 04 Mustang or my wife's 08 Highlander; or any car I've owned in many years. Truly a case of the bean counters prevailing.... The M, while better, is still inferior to many of its competitors.

Sounds like the OP's car was repainted during the PDI process.
