Plastidip Front Grille
Plastidip Front Grille
Hey everyone, ive been lookin around this forum and i see alotta ppl plastidip their front grille. i was just wondering is it mandatory to take off the grille in order to spray it on? or u could just tape all the surroundings and the emblem and just spray paint it right on? also, how many layers should i put on and how much time in between shuold i let it dry? thanks for all the advice guys
I see the whole plastidip thing has finally caught on with this community...
Anyway, yes you should take off your grille and spray it when its off the car. You don't want those little particles getting into your engine area. I put like 3-4 coats on mine and waited 30 mins in between each coat. It was a little rushed but it's held up just fine for a year and half now.

I personally don't like the look of the plastic dip paint, kinda cheap looking Imo... How ever I'm wondering if it is as tough as everybody says, then maybe it would make a great base/primer coat, then paint it with a nice paint top coat then clear. hmmm...
possible???
possible???
It does look a bit cheap, however I used it as a temporary thing but turns out I've just left it on for good year and a half and it's still fine. I don't think using it as a base/primer coat would be a good idea though. It's not exactly like a primer that would allow other paint to stay on for long.
