so i decided to take evilpanda and soundmike's path to plastidip my entire car. lol. not.
first on my list was the chrome spoiler. just got it done today, here are the pics...
im still working on the valence but the sun went down and the garage has ****ty lights. will finish em tomorrow!

i just got the valence done. honestly its a pain in the A. taping it wasn't that bad; taking it off was hell. you kinda have to use a blade to run along the edge where the plastidip and tape meets so you get a nice straight line. but if you apply too much pressure you may cut the clear coat. that's what happened to me (and i applied really little pressure) so i improvised and used my thumb press against the plastidip as i pulled off the paint and it came out really crooked.

If you sand it, plastidip becomes semi-permanent and you'll have a very hard time peeling it off.
Depending on how bad your rock chips are, it may or may not be a good idea to sand those small areas to level things out. I had some on my grille, the smaller ones seemed to have just been filled-in by the coating while the larger ones are somewhat visible depending on the viewing angle.
I haven't had problems with it catching lint or whatnot, then again after a wash i only wipe down with a chamois and don't really hit the plastidipped grille when using my mf towels when detailing.

+1 for taking it off...if you don't like it and end up taking it off only extra thing you will have to do is use claybar to get it perfectly smooth again. Did this and noticed a little "residue" on it but claybar took it right off.

Question - I need to repaint my grille and emblem, as I have rock chips on both of them. Do you suggest me sanding the paint of first? Or just going at it with the Plastidip? And I know you don't need to prep and prime with Plastidip, but do you think it's going to make a difference with the imperfections I have on the grille and emblem?
Its funny i have not seen this really used throughout my years modding cars till now and im finding out thats its extremly common in the mini community and bmw etc. People are doing wheels spoilers grills etc and having great results. I got a few cans cant wait to mess with it.

It will prob be okay with a couple of coats. No chips in my grille so far. Only thing I have noticed is that if you try to you any type of cloth when washing of drying it will grab lint and stick. Easy to pick off but it does like to grab stuff and kind of annoying. It's used for grip on tools so it makes sense.
