Steering Wheel noise (how to fix?)
Steering Wheel noise (how to fix?)
I know there are other threads about steering wheel noise, but I don't think any of them have the exact same problem I am facing. I noticed that there was a plastic on plastic rattle whenever I am going over bumpy/non-smooth roads especially on highways. It took me forever to discern the source of this noise since it was coming from a weird place and I couldn't move my head down to find the sound for fear of crashing.
I finally found the noise and it's coming right where I circled it in red in the picture below. I held my hand on the vibrating piece and the noise went away. Now I don't know how I should go about fixing it. I took it to the dealer once and they couldn't replicate it since the noise is very faint. I could take it back but rather than having the hassle of them fixing it any possibly messing something up I want to fix it myself.
Does anyone know a good way of making the rattle stop!
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Hi,
I have a similar problem I think. There is this weird vibration noise that happens every now and then when I hit a bump. But it's coming from my steering wheel column. Did you bring it into the dealer to see what the issue is?
Look forward to hearing your response.

hey guys i have the steering wheel column vibration. i looked and the vinyl or whatever material is around the column and mine is starting to like peel off. It would vibrate at high speeds which pissed me off. The dealer is ordering me the part at no charge. I guess the piece is glued on and was starting to come undone.
I have a similar issue with my car. It sounds almost like styrofoam rubbing on styrofoam and I only hear it when I go over bumps. The sound comes and goes and is not consistent with occurrences. At first I thought it might be a loose wire in the steering column, so I took my car to the dealership and they fastened some loose wiring, but to no avail. I took it in for a second time and they thought it was my windshield so they lined it with felt, fail... Hoping that the third time would be the charm they ordered me a new cover for my gauge cluster because of similar issues stated above in other posts. STILL...no fix to my problem. It's something I can live with, but hearing that annoying noise takes away the luxury aspect for me. This is a problem that Hyundai drivers should be dealing with, not Infiniti.
